01 The club

Awladna means أولادنا. Our children. That is the entire idea.

Coach Khaled and Coach Ayman started this so the kids in our community would have a field to play on and proper coaching to learn from. Every coach out there on a Saturday is a volunteer.

Close to eighty children have played with us. Some had never kicked a ball. Some could already bend one into the top corner. Everybody gets the same session, and everybody gets on the field.

The point is bigger than soccer. We want our kids learning the game and building lasting friendships with other Muslim kids.

02 A session

Ninety minutes,
start to finish.

  1. 01

    Warm-up

Running, stretching, and ball work. Ten minutes to wake everyone up and get the legs going.

  2. 02

    Skills

Dribbling, passing, first touch, finishing. Small groups so that every kid gets real touches instead of standing in a line.

  3. 03

    Small-sided games

Short games in tight spaces. This is where the last half hour of coaching actually sticks.

  4. 04

    Match play

Teams get picked, the whistle goes, and everyone plays. Not most kids. Everyone.
